Delphi

Delphi according to ancient tradition was the Navel of the Earth and it is here that the most important oracle of the ancient world, ‘Pythia’ was located.
Delphi had evolved as the nation’s centre and became the sacred city of the ancient Greeks.

It is here that Apollo, god of light, music and prophecy was worshiped. He taught people the virtue of measure and limitation, and emerged as the most moral and peaceful expression of the Greek spirit.

Today, Delphi is one of the most important archaeological sites in the country with millions of visitors each year.

Arachova

Arachova extends amphitheatrically on the southern slopes of Parnassus. It is by far the most popular ski tourism destination in Greece, a cosmopolitan capital, just 160km from Athens.

Korikio Andro. A cave of great archaeological interest. Human remains of ancient Lykoria were found in the area. The cave was the home of God Pan and the Corycian Nymphs. Nowadays, thanks to its amphitheatrical architecture and its rich historical background, the setting creates a mystic ambiance.

Churches

Parnassus is a blessed place. To this, attest the numerous places of worship. Churches dating to the Byzantine and post Byzantine period shared an emblematic surrounding and an architectural style that both impress and create a tranquility that calms the soul.

The Greek Orthodox tradition is evident everywhere wiht churches on rocky mountains, inside caves or in the midst of olive tree groves.

The Gravia Inn

A few years ago, the historic and legendary Gravia Inn, a symbol of Greek courage and determination was restored to its prior glory. Here, Odysseas Androutsos and 120 of his men defeated the Ottoman army of Omer Vryoni’s during the first days of the Greek Revolution. Today, the Gravia Inn re-enacts this historic battle with great visual depiction.

Also famous for their dairy products, you may try the Parnassus Feta and the exclusive Formaela, a cheese produced only in the region with an exclusive patent of origin from the European Union. The products can be purchased directly from their producers or enjoyed at traditional taverns.
