Drakokarkaro

An excursion to the dragon’s cave!

Just 500 meters west of the ski center of Gerondovrahos, the precipice of Drakokarkaro or Drakospilia of Parnassus is located, an excursion worthwhile taking. There are many myths narrated by the locals: according to tradition, a dragon used to reside inside the precipice. The legendary bandit Davelis and revolutionary leader Odysseas Androutsos used to find refuge here.

The precipice is 80 meters deep and beside it, there is a chapel dedicated to the victims of the Civil War who were thrown in.
