The monuments of Greek Orthodoxy are an integral part of the national heritage. The Byzantine and post-Byzantine churches with their remarkable iconography, mosaics, frescoes and rare pictures, are witness to the intense dedication of Greek tradition and its strong connection between religion and art.

Holy Church of Aghios Nikolaos

The church was built in 1805, a time of great prosperity for the port of Galaxidi.  It is famous for its wooden carved «templon» (icon stand), identical to the one in the Monastery of Profitis Helias Chrissos.

Church of Agia Paraskevi

Built in 1848, it is famous for its solar clock and the signs of the zodiac engraved on its marble floor.

Monastery of Agios Nektarios, Agios Fanourios and Agia Filothei

The monastery stands out for the catacombs of the Agia Filothei church, used to protect the faithful from persecution.
